Walk in the Spirit - Lisa Gillespie

How can I stay right with God? Stay on the right path and going the right direction? How do I keep the decisions I made at camp or at any point? How do I continue growing and make a difference?

Gal 5:16 says “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

This could be The End of the talk.

The lust of the flesh disappears then? No, it’s still there but you will not fulfill it

It’s one or the other. You can’t walk in the flesh and the spirit at the same time just like a fountain cannot yield bitter water and sweet.

To walk in the Spirit:

First we need humility

God resisteth the proud. (James.4:6, 1 Pet.5:5)

The last thing we need is God’s resistance. We need his help.

Prov 16:5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

The difference between David and Saul humility

Humility is to see myself in the light of scripture.

Next commit my works unto the Lord

Prov. 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

1 Cor.10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Realize every day we will stand before Jesus.

We must surrender wholly to Christ, then he can use us to HIS capacity. Life is a vapor

Lastly, the Lord will take care of the rest

Prov. 16:9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Prov.3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

We do our part and God will do his.

How can we help our kids, spouses, grand kids, friends, kids in our classes, etc. to stay right with God, and on the right path?

Be a good influence, it’s never too late and don’t underestimate being a good example. Pray for them. Prayer works and God hears you.

If you have kids in your home DO NOT be afraid to exercise your right as a parent to remove any thing or relationship that us causing dissension or disconnection from God or the family. Some times you have to kill some thing bad to save something good.

You may have a kid or grandkid not living with you, or friend who has gone away from God.

Phil. 3:16 says” Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Paul Chapel said, ”If someone is not walking by the same rule, GOD will reveal it to them”

He’s bigger, he knows, he can.

We should have convictions but “they must be bathed in compassion” Dr. Sexton

We can be a good influence in many ways

Walking in the Spirit our selves

Sharpening the countenance of a friend

Prov. 27:17Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Edifying one another

1 Thess. 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Provoking one another to love and good works

Heb.10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Praying for one another James 5:16 - Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Loving the brethren

1 Pet. 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Let this be our goal this year: Walk in the spirit and be a good influence everywhere
