Eternity - Heather Wynn

Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Eternity’ is one of the most impactful words in the Bible and the most interesting thing is that It is only mentioned once in the entire Word of God. My husband wrote a tract with the emphasis on the word ‘Eternity’ and it has been an extremely influential tract. I would like to share a recent story of this thought behind the word ‘Eternity’.

Outside of the many hats that we are privileged to wear in ministry, my husband has the privilege of being a Chaplain of the Police and Fire Department. In that role we have had some very interesting opportunities to serve those in need of a Saviour. It can range from drug problems, wrecks, and just someone needing help for something simple. One of the areas we never get used to and is very hard to process is when one of our very own 1st Responders pass away.

My husband recently had one of the hardest cases he has ever had in trying to witness to one the firefighters he serves. This firefighter has been a 1st Responder for 50 years. The first time he witnessed to him he cursed at him told him to get out of his face with that religious stuff. We began to pray together for him to get saved. Fast forward 5 years of never giving up on sharing the simple yet powerful word ‘Eternity’ to this one man. He was diagnosed with cancer and called my husband to come pray with him at the Hospital.

I prayed as my husband went to visit him late that night in the ER. God answered prayer and my husband was able to lead him to trust Christ as his personal Saviour. The impact of this man’s testimony and drastic change in his life has been an instrument to others who have received Christ all because of this one word ‘Eternity’. He just passed away and is now with his Saviour and his last request to my husband before he died was, “Hey Wynn, Tell everyone at my funeral about ‘Eternity’!”

Will you share ‘Eternity’ with someone today, if they reject it, don’t give up, stay in prayer and persistence, it will be worth it in light of ‘Eternity’!
