Who Do You Think You Are? - Tina Orosco

When I was asked to write this devotional, I was excited my first reaction was absolutely! I would love to! I felt honored that I was even asked but as the weeks went by and the days got closer, I started questioning my ability to do this. I started doubting myself after all I am my worst critic. Then as always that stinkin devil got in my ear I could hear him laughing at me saying Really? Who do you think you are? Remember I know you; I know your past you are not like those other ladies. You are unworthy, and unqualified!  When I started to listen to him my spirit deflated. Perhaps he’s right I never went to college/seminary, I have no formal training on speaking or writing, I didn’t grow up in church and I do have a past that I am not proud to have.

Has the devil ever whispered these words in your ear?

The thought of a Christian feeling worthless and unworthy is a lie from no one other than the devil. He’s been a liar from the beginning and he’s trying to stop you from doing God’s will for your life. Resist the devil by putting on the full armor of God.

God knows your name. He knows every single thing about you. The bible tells us that even the hairs on our head are numbered! That's how personal our God is! Would God come to live inside someone who is worthless? Do you know how big God is?

Jesus was thinking about you when He died for you! He has not forsaken you. God might seem silent, but He is working. He will continue to work in your life until the end.

Out of love He has engraved your name on His palm. When have you ever heard of a master putting the name of the servant on Him?

If you have ever felt this way or had these thoughts or if the old serpent has ever whispered these things in your ear then here are some thoughts to help you in times when you feel unqualified or unworthy

  1. 1 Cor.16:20- for ye are bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s

            A. God thought you were good enough to die for and if you were the only person in the world, He would’ve still died for you!! So that should encourage you to strive to seek out your calling and make it sure!

            B. 2 Tim.1:9- “who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” so you see Jesus doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called! He knew the plan that He had for your life before the foundation of the world so whatever it is that you do for the Lord, if it is done in His power with direction and guidance from the Holy Spirit you will never have to worry about failure my friends because God will never fail!!

  2.  1 Cor. 1:27- but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.

          A. It’s ME! I am the foolish and weak thing! But this scripture tells me that God has chosen me! He chose Me!!! Through me He will show Himself mightily! What a blessing and honor to know that God has chosen little old foolish and weak ME!

          B. Knowing that God has chosen me and knowing that there are no “qualifications” necessary all I have to do is say “HERE AM I LORD” and He will take care of the rest! Just like when God called Abraham, He didn’t give him details He didn’t call him because he was the best qualified candidate, He used him because he was willing to trust God and GO!

Once we let go of the lies that we’re not enough...and take hold of the truth that we’re more than enough because of Jesus presence and power in us...then we’ll be set free from paralyzing insecurities and on our way to experiencing courageous confidence to do everything he calls us to do.

If you feel this way, I pray this helps you. It helped me, I am unqualified and unworthy, but He is worthy which makes us so valuable!!!

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strenghteneth me.
