Keep Asking - Faith Thurmond

Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Have you ever asked God for something, and you felt He didn’t hear?

Have you asked Him to fix a problem, or meet a need?

Maybe you needed Him to lift a burden that felt too heavy to carry, but you felt He wasn’t hearing you.

Perhaps you want God to fix a situation or make you a better person, or maybe you want God to make someone better…. but again, you just felt like God didn’t hear.

You’ve asked God for all those things that you felt He didn’t hear…. Now what??!! Why isn’t God answering my prayer?

We are really an impatient people! We expect God to answer us in a hurry.

Look back at our key verse Matthew 21:22

And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

So, have you really asked Him?

Matthew 7:7 says,

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

The bible goes on to say in John 14:13,

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

What’s your motive? Are you praying to bring honor and glory to God or are you selfishly trying to bring honor and glory to yourself?  We should be praying; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. GODS WILL not our will!!!

How is your heart? Do you have unconfessed sin that’s keeping God from hearing your prayer?

Have you called on God? Jeremiah 33:3 says,

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Do you believe that God will answer?

1 John 5:14 says,

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

Don’t pray a selfish prayer. Pray that God will answer according to His will not ours.

Vs 15 goes on to say,

And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

God wants to give us the desires of our hearts, but so often we don’t ask believing that He will do it.

Ephesians 3:20, 21 says,

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

You see, I remember the times I prayed. When I was a teenager, I prayed for a husband. I asked God over and over to give me a husband. You see my dad pastored in a pretty bad part of Memphis, Tn and let’s just say there was no one around to marry. I even told my mom God won’t send anyone here for me to marry. You see, I did doubt that God could do it…maybe I didn’t doubt God could as much as I doubted that God would do it for me. I was discouraged, would God ever send me my future husband? But I kept praying, and asking God and one day, God answered my prayer!! God used a friend of a friend and worked it all out in His time and His way not mine! What if I had stopped praying? What if the moment I got discouraged I stopped praying and never asked God again? I dare say that I more than likely would not be about to celebrate 21 years of marriage to my husband!

Friend, even if you have asked God a million times, ask Him again!

Keep asking again and again!

Today could be the day He answers that prayer!

If you stop now just think what if I had prayed just one more time, what if I had asked just once more?

What if God had planned to answer that prayer the next time you prayed…. but you didn’t ask Him again.

Sometimes His answer may be NO! or maybe His answer will be wait a little while.

Be patient.

Trust that God is working everything out according to His will, in His time.

Just keep asking again and again!!
